Holla! it’s been a while here. Apologies  for the long break!

Every woman craves a beautiful, smooth and clear skin. So many factors however undermine this, such as stress, too much exposure to ultra vio rays from the sun, hormonal changes and imbalance and lack of proper skin care.

These factors and many more tends to leave your skin dry, dull, blemished and rough. For our last post on tips for  preventing acne click here.

So for lovers of all things natural and also for those who want to seat back and not spend too much money on skincare products. These homemade remedies are for you! Follow me.


Extra virgin Coconut oil

1. Warm the required quantity of coconut oil
2. Apply on the face and neck and massage gently into the skin in circular motion
3. Leave on overnight
You can add some sugar to the oil and use it as a scrub to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week.

How Often You Should Do This.

Use coconut oil every night before going to bed.

Why This Works
This remedy works best for dry and dull skin. Coconut oil locks the moisture in the skin and also nourishes it with essential fatty acids. Its phenolic compounds contribute to its antioxidant activity and give you glowing skin

Note: honey can also be used in the same process and manner. So if you don’t have coconut oil you can replace it with honey.



1 small cucumber
2-3 tablespoons yogurt or one whole egg

1. Grate the cucumber and add the yogurt or egg to it. Beat it properly.
2. Apply it on your face and neck.
3. Leave it on for five minutes until it dries and wash it off with cold water.

How Often You Should Do This

Repeat this once in every three to four days.

Why This Works
Cucumber is cooling for the skin. It replenishes and rejuvenates dull skin with its antioxidants. It also improves complexion and reduces swelling no wonder it’s essential in facial spa treatment.



1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
A pinch of turmeric
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon milk

1. Mix all the ingredients. Apply this mixture on the face and neck evenly.
2. Leave it on for about 20 minutes.
3. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

How Often You Should Do This
Apply this face pack up to twice a week.

Why This Works
Aloe vera gel is the ultimate solution for skin problems. Its nourishing and healing properties rejuvenate the skin to give it a natural glow


1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon honey

1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
2. Apply the mixture on damp face and neck using circular motions.
3. Leave it on for 10 minutes.
4. Rinse with cool water and pat dry. Moisturize as usual.

How Often You Should Do This
Apply this face pack once a week.

Why This Works
Baking soda exfoliates dead skin cells and also neutralizes the skin’s pH. It soothes the skin and heals any inflammation that may be present as well


1 tablespoon of instant coffee or coffee grounds
1/2 to 1 tablespoon milk ( 2% whole milk works wonderfully well and raw milk is even better)

1. Mix and make a spreadable paste and apply it on cleansed face. If you are using coffee grounds, let the mixture sit for 3-5 minutes.
2. Gently massage mixture onto face and let it dry for 15-20 minutes
3. Rinse off with cold water while massaging gently for 2 minutes to exfoliate and dead skin cells from the face.

How often You should do this
Repeat for 2-3 times in a week.

Why This Works
The mixture of Coffee and milk will leave your skin clear from dirt and dead skin cells and makes skin soft and smooth. It also reduces redness and inflammation of the skin.

Note: you can apply as an eye mask for puffy eyes. It can help you reduce inflammation of the skin.
